Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has announced that the provincial government will oppose federal government’s move to takeover islands in Sindh as he termed the act similar to India stamping the authority in occupied Kashmir.
“The PPP will oppose the illegal annexation of Sindh’s islands through a presidential ordinance by the PTI government,” Bilawal tweeted on Monday.
Bilawal likened the government’s move to take over the islands with “Modi’s actions in occupied Kashmir”. He said they would oppose it in the national and provincial assemblies and the senate.
The federal government has planned to initiate a developmental projects on the Bundal Island in Karachi. An authority has already been established to oversee the project.
Ahead of the development, the Pakistan Islands Development Authority was established through a presidential ordinance in September.
As per the government the authority would develop and manage islands in the internal and territorial waters of Pakistan.
