Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has urged the rulers to bring in a strict legislation to save the government and private land from 'land grabbers' especially those who have grabbed hundred of thousands acres of land of 'pond areas' attached with 14 head-works of the country.
"If this land of pond areas is not get vacated from the grabbers then Indian water aggression or heavy floods can damage irrigation system, head works and agricultural sector of the country," said KBP President Sardar Zafar Hussein and General Secretary Malik Muhammad Ramzan Rohari while talking to delegation of growers here on Friday.
They said hundred of thousands of acres of land is attached with head works in the country so as in case of flood extra water should be released to this area and these head works and canals could be saved. They alleged that influential from ruling parties had grabbed these areas and sowing different crops. In case of flood they stop irrigation department people from releasing this water to the pond areas to save their crops. However, they feared that in case of heavy floods or if India releases huge water in our system it might cause irreparable loss.
They urged the rulers to get this land vacated from these land grabbers. The Board will also release a white paper about these land grabbers, they concluded.
