Three Americans were killed when a private jet crashed and burst into flames at a small airport in southern France on Friday, the prefecture of the Var region confirmed.
The three victims were the only occupants of the twin-engine jet, which crashed on landing at Le Castellet International Airport, located between Toulon and Marseille, a spokeswoman for the airport told dpa. Two of the victims were men aged 45 and 61. The third victim was a woman aged 30, a spokesman for the prefecture told dpa. All the victims were crew members, according to the airport. Le Castellet airport caters mainly to a business clientele. It has a single, 1,750-metre runway.
