The Supreme Court (SC) issued on Monday notice to Prime Minister Imran Khan for attending a ceremony of a particular political party.
Last week, the PM attended a ceremony organized by the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) in Islamabad. During the hearing today, Justice Qazi Faez Isa said that the PM is the leader of every individual and he cannot line up with any particular group.
He further said that by attending the event, the PM showed that he associates himself with a particular group or a party. The judge continued that the event was held at Islamabad’s Convention Centre and if it was held at a private hotel, then it was a different matter. "Why is the PM misusing state resources?" the judge asked.
Justice Isa has referred the matter to the chief justice for the formation of a bench, local media reported. The SC has also issued notices to the attorney general, advocate general Punjab and other concerned ministries.
