Information Minister Shibli Faraz has blamed the past governments for the rising inflation, saying that it is because of their policies that the country is in its current state.

President Dr Arif Alvi has summoned sessions of both houses of parliament today at a time when the opposition-led Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is set for its first rally in Gujranwala.

PPP Senator Sherry Rehman said the Senate and National Assembly sessions were called today to prevent many of the opposition leaders from going to the Gujranwallah jalsa.

Speaking on the floor, the information minister said the opposition blames the government for rising inflation when it was the opposition parties that ruled over the last 40 to 50 years and destroyed the institutions.

However, he said inflation is a temporary thing that the government will fix. We will enable the country and government institutions to stand on their own two feet, Faraz said.

While talking about the rally in Gujranwala, the minister said the opposition has gathered to cover their corruption. He further said the opposition has exposed itself and their days in politics are up.

He added he had challenged the opposition parties to fill the Jinnah Stadium Gujranwala and they stand exposed now by converting half of the stadium into a stage.
