IT accessories worth millions of rupees were gutted on Saturday after a fire broke out in the premises of a private bank's Information Technology Department falling in the limits of Mithadar police station.
"A caller, who may have been a receptionist, informed us that a fire had broken out in the IT department of a private bank located on the II Chundrigar Road," a fire brigade official said. He said that at least four fire tenders had been dispatched to extinguish the fire, he said, adding that the fire had been caused by an electrical short circuit. According to the fire department official, the fire was brought under control after a two-hour-long hectic effort. No one was reported hurt in the incident.
