USAID holds rollout workshop for Discos

USAID power distribution programme on Saturday in a workshop kicked-off the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) documentation manual (ERP Manual) for Distribution Companies (Discos).
The ERP Manual will serve as a critical and valuable resource at improving the financial operations of organisation that will help improve operations controls by assisting prevention and detection of irregularities and reducing the manually driven business processes.
"The ERP Manual focuses on ERP modules for financial, material inventory, project costing and payroll. The USAID power distribution programme in partnership with Discos will provide technical assistance in areas such as the evaluation and assessment of the IT organisational structure and the qualifications of Discos personnel necessary to administer and maintain an ERP system" Gary Bartlett, Finance expert of the USAID power distribution programme said on the occasion.
"Our main objective is to assist Discos in improving their performance and efficiency, therefore the ERP Manual shall help in achieving our objective" Craig VanDevelde, Chief of Party of the USAID power distribution programme said. Heads of Discos' IT and MIS departments from Iesco (Islamabad), Pesco (Peshawar), Mepco (Multan), Gepco (Gujranwala), Fesco (Faisalabad), Lesco (Lahore), Hesco (Hyderabad), Qesco (Quetta), and Sepco (Sukkur) attended the workshop.
USAID power distribution programme is a four and one-half year, USAID-funded programme aimed at working jointly with government-owned Discos' in Pakistan to improve their performance in terms of reduction in losses, and improvement in revenues and customer services, to bring them to a level of well-run utilities as in other progressive countries.-PR
