A day after he was arrested and later released for violating the sanctity of Quaid's mausoleum, captain (retd) Safdar has promised to visit Quaid's mausoleum every year on October 18 and raise the slogan 'long live the mother of the nation'.
On Monday morning, Safdar was arrested in a case registered against him for chanting political slogans in the vicinity of the Mazar-e-Quaid. Any political activity in the Mazar-e-Quaid's vicinity is a punishable offense. Anyone found guilty of this crime, can go to jail for three years. Around 200 other people were also booked in the case.
A judicial magistrate later released him on bail against surety bonds of Rs100,000.
Speaking to the media today, the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz leader said that there was nothing wrong with him chanting slogans during his visit to the mausoleum. He said he went to the mother of the nation and 'told her that the ones who stole your elections, the same people have stolen ours'.
He continued that if appealing to your mother and 'saying zindabad to your mother is a crime then we will continue to do so'.
