THE RUPEE: USD falls against PKR

KARACHI: On Tuesday, on market close, USD fell against PKR in both interbank and open markets while Euro went up in open market. According to reports, USD fell globally due to uncertainty regarding US stimulus package and upcoming elections.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, on market close, Pakistan Rupee gained 8 paisas for buying and 10 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 162.22 and 162.30 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 15 paisas for both buying and selling over yesterday's rates closing at 162.25 and 162.55 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR went down by 50 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 189.50 and 191 respectively reversing yesterday's gains.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR went down by 25 paisas for buying and 10 paisas for selling closing at 44.40 and 44.60 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR lost 10 paisas for buying and 5 paisas for selling closing at 43 and 43.15 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee depreciated its worth on the buying side while it stayed unchanged on the selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Tuesday.

According to currency dealers, the greenback gained 10 paisas for buying and ended at Rs 162.30 against the opening rate of Rs 162.20 whereas it did not observe any change for selling at Rs 163.50.

Moreover, the rupee stayed unchanged against the pound sterling for buying at Rs 209.00 while it lost over Re 1 for selling and closed at Rs 211.00 against the previous closing rate of Rs 210.80, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 50 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.

The dollar opened at Rs 163.40 (buying) and Rs163.50 (selling) against last rate of Rs162.90 (buying) and Rs163 (selling). It closed at Rs 163.40 (buying) and Rs 163.50 (selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs. 115,300 (selling) and Rs 115,100 (buying) at the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
