Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 90,494 tonnes of cargo comprising 62,349 tonnes of import cargo and 28,145 tonnes of export cargo including 5,309 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 62,349 tonnes comprised of 25,781 tonnes of containerised cargo; 223 tonnes of sugar; 4,659 tonnes of DAP; 17,621 tonnes of wheat and 14,055 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 28,145 tonnes comprised of 22,897 tonnes of containerised cargo and 5,248 tonnes of clinkers.

As many as 5,309 containers comprising of 1,923 containers import and 3,386 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 439 of 20's and 742 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 548 of 20's and 393 of 40's loaded containers while 122 of 20's and 965 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Bomar Milione, Thorsky, Diyala, CMA CGM Orfeo and Umm Al Anber carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. Szczecin Trader, Berlin Express, Vasi Star and Stena Immaculate carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

There are two ships namely Berlin Express and Szczecin Trader carrying containers expected to sail on Tuesday.

There are two vessels viz. CSL Sophe and Ginga Lion carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while five vessels viz. Wan Hai-611, Madrid Express, Cosco Asia, Global Legend and Da An carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively are expected due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 200,366 tonnes comprising 150,828 tonnes of import cargo and 49,538 tonnes of export cargo including 3,536 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 150,828 tonnes includes 69,493 tonnes of coal; 2,594 tonnes of LPG; 5,000 tonnes of palm oil; 12,000 tonnes of soyabean; 31,000 tonnes of mogas; 3,717 tonnes of palm kernel and 27,474 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 49,538 tonnes includes 9,828 tonnes of cement and 39,710 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,536 containers comprising of 1,446 containers import and 2,090 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were four ships namely Navarino, Jal Kamal, Gas Athena and CL Frontier carrying containers, coal, LPG and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two ships namely MSC Candice and Universal Bangkok carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, LPG, mogas and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twenty one vessels viz. Xin Hong Kong, MSC Lisban, Boaufort, Infinity-V, Star Hercules, Star Allair, Shao Shan-6, Unicom Spirit, Sea Brave, Epic Bermuda, Glory Harvest, Tomson Gas, Gas Zeus, Energy Atlantic, Khair Pure, Al-Soor-II, Leader, Bhai Ravi, Antigoni, Mega-1 and Silver Ervilia carrying containers, steel product, cement, coal, chemical, soyabean, LPG, LNG, mogas, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. MSC Lisban, Maersk Kensington, Infinity-V, Energy Atlantic and Silver Ervilia carrying containers, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There was one ships namely Maersk Kensington carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
