LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived here Tuesday and held meetings with Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and other senior government officials and discussed various issues, including measures to control price hike and extend maximum relief to masses, it is learnt.

The Punjab CM briefed the PM about steps taken to check inflation and progress on development projects, the sources said, adding that views were also exchanged over current political situation arising out after protest of the opposition.

The sources claimed that the PM asked the CM to focus on providing relief to masses and utilize all resources in this regard. The premier in his meeting with the senior officials, including the Punjab Chief Secretary, IG Punjab Police and others, discussed matters pertaining to the Punjab government.

The premier was accompanied by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz, Federal Minister for National Food Security Syed Fakhar Imam, Advisor to Prime Minister on Accountability and Interior Mirza Shahzad Akbar and Chairman Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority Lt Gen (Retd) Anwar Ali Haider.

Moreover, the CM in a statement said that across the board accountability of the corrupt will continue under PM Imran Khan. The CM regretted the opposition is continuing the sole agenda of saving their looted money. Those who are involved in a tirade against the institutions are an enemy of the nation and anti-state narrative is a conspicuous proof of the mental state of the so-called leaders, he said.

The CM emphasised every act and statement against the national interest is condemnable as spreading anarchy and chaos is no politics. Rather, politics means public service and the people cannot be fooled because they know that who is honest and who is lying, he stressed.

The CM maintained the unnatural collusion of 11 assorted parties is worthless before an honest leader like Imran Khan. The conspiracy hatched by the opposition parties against institutions has been badly failed. The opposition first tried to politicise corona and then launched a venomous harangue against state institutions, he regretted. The people are siding with the institutions and have rejected the nefarious narrative of the opposition, he stated.

The CM regretted the elements that wreaked havoc with the country are bent upon obstructing the development process through the anarchy. The opposition should shun negative politics as it is weakening the national unity, advised the CM.

Moreover, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz in a tweet said that the political actors had staged a drama for the last few days with the aim to save their corruption.

"These people were national criminals, as they had looted the national exchequer; they should know that Imran Khan will not come under any pressure and will hold them accountable for every penny," Shibli said.
