LAHORE: Under a Government-to-Government agreement signed by the Pakistan Agricultural Storage & Services Corporation (PASSCO), the first super vessel carrying 63,000 metric tons of wheat will reach Karachi in the first week of November 2020.

The vessel departed from Kavkaz Port, Russia on Thursday under the agreement which was signed by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, through PASSCO with the Russian Federation on October 10, 2020 for import of 180,000 metric tons of wheat.

The first super vessel carrying 63000 metric tons wheat has sailed for Pakistan from Kavkaz port, Russia, said the PASSCO GM Field Muzahir Iqbal.

The super vessel is expected to reach Karachi in the first week of November 2020. Remaining wheat being imported on Government to Government basis shall also reach Karachi during November 2020. Availability of imported wheat in the country is sure to bridge the gap in demand and supply of wheat in the local markets, PASSCO official hoped.
