Crime rate on the rise in Capital

ISLAMABAD: Despite tall claims of the capital police high-ups, there is no letup in crimes in the city, as robbers, dacoits, burglars and car lifters struck at more than 19 separate places in the city during the last week.

According to data gathered by Business Recorder, the city's various police stations registered 10 cases of theft including robbery, dacoity and snatching at gunpoint; eight cases of vehicle theft, three cases of kidnapping, and one case of murder, during same period.

The most active areas for criminal gangs were within the limits of Industrial Area, Koral, Lohi Bher, Khanna, Golra, and Kohsar police stations.

During the last week, Industrial Area police station registered four cases of motor vehicle theft. Carjackers stole a bike bearing registration number GAN-812 belonging to Muhammad Imran worth Rs 100,000, lifted another bike bearing registration number BAQ-803 belonging to Rauf Bilal worth Rs 110,000, stole a bike bearing registration number RIV-7248 belonging to Fazalur Rehman worth Rs 45000, and lifted a car bearing registration number LEF-2782 belonging to Khiyas Ali Shah worth Rs 500,000.

Similarly, two cases of robbery and one case of car theft were reported to Lohi Bher police station during the last week.
