KARACHI: On directives of Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation on Monday initiated the formation of 'Baghban' committee, comprising of local persons for preserving and taking care of parks of the city.
DG Parks Taha Saleem established third group of Baghban at 2K Park Nazimabad and members of local committee were provided special jercies inscribed with 'KMC Parks.'
Speaking on the occasion, DG Parks Taha Saleem said results are fruitful so far and committees formed at Sir Syed Park and Hill Park had done good job so far. The DG Parks was of the view that Nazimabad is one of the developed areas of the city with many parks and playgrounds as per the map but most of them are in dilapidated condition as they were ignored.
Saleem said their aim is to make these parks available for the public and for that purpose Baghban system is being introduced. Baghban would continue giving fruitful results as no one want their area and parks dirty.
