ISLAMABAD:-The city police have devised a comprehensive security plan for the main processions of Eid Miladun Nabi on 12th Rabiul Awal on October 30th to avert any untoward incident.
An official said that the decision to this effect was taken in a meeting presided over by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, and attended by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) headquarters Muhammad Saleem, AIGs Special Branch and Operations, Superintendents of Police (SSPs) Traffic and Security, and Additional Superintendents of Police (SPs) of various zones, he said.
He said that the IGP had directed DIG operations Waqar Uddin Syed to ensure comprehensive security arrangements on the occasion.
As per plan, the contingents of Islamabad police and personnel of other law enforcement agencies will perform patrolling and security duties on the occasion and the main procession starting from Sector G-7 will be completely cordoned off through heavy deployment.
He said that procession will start from Sector G-7 (Sitara Market) and will culminate near shrine of Hazrat Sakhi Mehmud at Aabpara market after passing through various routes.
The route of procession has been divided into four sectors and four SPs, Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and inspectors will lead security duties, and monitor the security arrangements in various sectors, he said.
As per the plan all SPs, Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Station House Officers (SHOs) and other police officials will visit the routes of procession and ensure effective coordination among the security personnel performing duties.
He said that over 1,000 cops including teams of Quick Response Force (QRF), Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), Counter Terrorism Forces (CTF) and police commandoes will perform security duties on the occasion. Special teams of Rangers and special branch police will also assist the police, he said.
