Sugar import through TCP: First batch to reach Port Qasim today

LAHORE: Vessel carrying first batch of 25,000 metric tons of sugar being imported by the Punjab government to meet shortage of the sweetener in the province from abroad, will reach Port Qasim on Wednesday night.

The government is importing 151,700 metric tons of sugar to meet the requirement of the province, said Cane Commissioner Punjab Muhammad Zaman Wattoo here on Tuesday.

The sugar is being imported through Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) for the Punjab province and it will surely reduce the shortage. Additional Cane Commissioner Punjab Sibt ul Hassan Sherazi has already reached Karachi to receive this imported sugar.
