THE RUPEE: Upward gain continues

KARACHI: On Wednesday, on market close, PKR continued its upward gain. It went up against USD in both interbank and open markets. It also gained value against Euro, AED and SR in open market.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, on market close, Pakistan Rupee gained 30 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 160.55 and 160.65 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 30 paisas for buying and 40 paisas for selling over yesterday's rates closing at 160.30 and 160.70 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR went up by 2 rupees for buying and 1.30 rupees for selling closing at 187 and 189 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR remained unchanged for buying and 5 paisas for selling closing at 43.70 and 43.90 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR gained 15 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 42.40 and 42.60 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee continued upward slide for the third consecutive day against the greenback and the British pound in the open currency market on Wednesday.

Following lack of buyers' interest in the market, the greenback remained under selling pressure for another day and ended further lower for buying and selling at Rs 160.50 and Rs 161.70 against the overnight closing trend of Rs 160.80 and Rs 161.90 respectively, local currency dealers said.

Similarly, the rupee also followed suit in relation to the pound sterling that was bought and sold at Rs 207.20 and Rs 209.00 against the Tuesday's closing rates of Rs 208.00 and Rs 209.80 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee remained firm against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.

The dollar opened at Rs161(buying) and Rs161.10 (selling) against same last rate.

It closed at Rs161(buying) and Rs161.10 (selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs. 115,100(selling) and Rs115,000(buying) at the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
