KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani on Thursday gave approval to resolution seeking awareness campaign for Covid-19.
As per approved resolution, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s different departments including Media Management, Culture & Sports, Medical and Health would jointly run the campaign.
The campaign would be run under Sindh Local Government Act according to which the people would be informed to keep social distancing and wear masks at public places.
Shallwani asked the citizens to adopt all preventive measures and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) as Covid-19 has not been eradicated yet. He said that surge in number of coronavirus patients were reported in last few days.
Shallwani said that according to experts, second wave of Covid-19 might be more dangerous. He said that WHO has declared it a world pandemic which had affected more than 200 countries.
The Administrator said that the novel coronavirus has not done any major damage in Pakistan due to timely measures but it has not been eradicated yet. He was of the view that the KMC would fulfil its responsibilities and run the campaign in effective manner.
Shallwani said that they would held awareness campaigns at public places to ensure that a large number of people are reached.
