KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 176,646 tonnes of cargo comprising 117,031 tonnes of import cargo and 59,615 tonnes of export cargo including 6,907 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargos of 117,031 tonnes comprised of 41,672 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,361 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,473 tonnes of sugar; 6,003 tonnes of DAP; 15,572 tonnes of wheat and 46,950 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 59,615 tonnes comprised of 34,785 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,030 tonnes of mill scale and 8,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,907 containers comprising of 2,711 containers import and 4,196 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 931 of 20’s and 859 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 31 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 899 of 20’s and 340 of 40’s loaded containers while 813 of 20’s and 902 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely CSAV Tyndall, Hyundai Paramount, Cosco Aden, Hafnia Leo and Tiger Perseverance carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Cosco Belgium, Botany Bay, Hafnia Leo, Bow Cardinal and Arrow Lady carrying containers, oil tankers and wheat respectively currently at the berths.
There are four ships namely Cosco Belgium, Cosco Rotterdam, MT Shalamar and Bow Cardinal carrying containers and oil tankers respectively expected to sail on Wednesday.
There is one vessel viz. Argo-B carrying DAP due to arrive on Wednesday while five vessels viz. MOL Generosity, Nordspring, Pamba-1, Chemroute Sky and Zoey carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively are expected to arrive on Thursday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 101,104 tonnes comprising 52,654 tonnes of import cargo and 48,450 tonnes of export cargo including 3,836 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 52,654 tonnes includes 7,000 tonnes of palm oil; 16,467 tonnes of gas oil; 1,294 tonnes of wheat; 2,114 tonnes of sugar; 1,277 tonnes of LPG; 68 tonnes of project cargo and 24,434 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 48,450 tonnes includes 48,450 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,836 containers comprising of 1,286 containers import and 2,550 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were four ships namely Sphene, BBC Ursa, Gas Zeus and Khair Pure carrying containers, project cargo, LPG and gas oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, wheat, sugar, LPG, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen vessels viz. MOL Generosity, Simurgh, Serene Amelia, Eternity SW, Star Altair, Golden Denise, Ginga Kite, Lucent, Al Sahla, BW Despina, Lia, Al-Salam-II, Facility and Arawana carrying containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, chemical, sugar, LPG, gas oil, furnace oil and palm kernel respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven ships viz. MOL Generosity, Simurgh, Captain-D Lempesis, Star Altair, Ginga Kite, Al Sahla, Facility and Ocean Venture carrying containers, steel coil, coal, chemical, LNG and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely Captain-D Lempesis carrying coal due to arrive on Wednesday while two ships namely MOL Courage and Aldi Wave carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
