The popular social networking and messaging platform, WhatsApp, has announced that unsolicited messages will disappear automatically with the introduction of a new feature, removing a major problem for users.

WhatsApp, owned by US-based social media company Facebook, has announced that it will soon introduce a feature that will ask users if they want to keep messages or if they want to delete them automatically after 7 days.

WhatsApp, which is used by some two billion people worldwide, says that WhatsApp messages at present are stored on the phone indefinitely, however, there are many messages that the users don’t want to be present.

The company says that their goal is to make conversations on WhatsApp as private as possible, so in this case, some messages should not always be present on the phone and that is why the company is introducing a new feature on WhatsApp which will allow users to delete unsolicited messages.

Note that Facebook has introduced a similar feature before, while Snapchat was the first to provide this option to users.

WhatsApp says it has set a 7-day deadline so users who want messages on their phones not to be saved forever can see if they feel the need to re-read a message in the meantime. What have they talked about?

WhatsApp has taken this step to increase the number of its users which are quickly moving towards other platforms especially the young lot that is spending more time on Snapchat, TikTok, alongside Instagram.
