Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 155,643 tonnes of cargo comprising 118,981 tonnes of import cargo and 36,662 tonnes of export cargo including 8,261 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 118,981 tonnes comprised of 70,816 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,850 tonnes of DAP; 11,557 tonnes of wheat and 21,758 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 36,662 tonnes comprised of 35,006 tonnes of containerised cargo and 1,656 tonnes of cement.

As many as 8,261 containers comprising of 4,959 containers import and 3,302 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,501 of 20's and 1,482 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 240 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 822 of 20's and 646 of 40's loaded containers while 110 of 20's and 539 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were two ships namely Conti Courage and Wan Hai-613 carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. Esperanza-N, MOL Globe, OEL Kedarnath, Mayssan, MT Lahore, DM Dragon and Nord Sirius carrying containers, oil tankers and wheat respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely Mayssan, DM Dragon and Kedros carrying containers, oil tanker and wheat respectively expected to sail on Tuesday while another ship namely OEL Kedarnath carrying containers is expected to sail on Wednesday.

There are three vessels viz. Shiling, Paris Express and Castor-N carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while two vessels viz. Xin Qing Dao and Malcolm carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 187,345 tonnes comprising 153,145 tonnes of import cargo and 34,200 tonnes of export cargo including 2,900 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 153,145 tonnes includes 59,724 tonnes of coal; 30,417 tonnes of LNG; 19,957 tonnes of gas oil; 5,500 tonnes of palm oil; 10,046 tonnes of soyabean; 3,124 tonnes of sugar; 3,477 tonnes of LPG and 20,900 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 34,200 tonnes includes 34,200 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,900 containers comprising of 1,100 containers import and 1,800 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There was one ship namely Silver Estema carrying palm oil sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while four ships namely MSC Channe, Star Glory, Star Altair and Epic Sardina carrying containers, coal, soyabean and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, sugar, soyabean, LPG, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen vessels viz. Yasa Aysen, Asia Zircon-1, Eternity SW, Martha, Golden Denise, Gulf Moon, Zita Schulte, Gas Athena, Gas Amazon, Clear Ocean Maritz, Lia, Arawana, Harizon, Boil Hai and NCC Nafa carrying coal, chemical, LPG, LNG, gasoline, gas oil palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were eight ships viz. Maersk Chicago, LE Havre, Yasa Aysen, Martha, Gulf Moon, Gas Athena, Arawana and NCC Nafa carrying containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, palm kernel and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There are two ships namely Maersk Courage and LE Havre carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely MSC Chiara carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
