Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has given in-principle approval to run Green Electric Buses in Lahore.
A special meeting on transport was held in Lahore on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in which approval was given in principle to run Green Electric Buses.
The Punjab Chief Minister directed to take necessary steps for the operation of electric buses.
The meeting decided to activate the Vehicles Inspection Certification System for permanent prevention of smog. Usman Buzdar also gave in-principle approval for the recruitment of Transport Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors and Sergeants in Punjab.
The Punjab Chief Minister said that electric buses would be run on 6 routes of 103 km long in Lahore and the transport company would be transformed into Punjab Transport Company. The meeting considered various options for procurement of electric buses.
Usman Buzdar said that the transport department should review all the options and make immediate final recommendations.
It was learnt that electric buses will also be operated in other cities under public-private partnership. Electric buses will reduce environmental pollution and smog, will do everything that will benefit the people.
The Punjab Chief Minister while ordering to improve the cleaning arrangements at the route station of Orange Line Metro Train said that there would be no compromise on the cleaning arrangements at Orange Line Metro Train and stations.
