17 Jul, 2012

The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, on Monday granted protective bail to Ali Musa Gilani, son of former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, in Ephedrine case.
Justice Iftikhar Hussain Shah and Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi of the LHC's Rawalpindi bench accepted the bail plea of PPP legislator Musa Gilani and granted him bail against a surety bond of Rs 100,000. The court also ordered Musa to appear before it on July 25. The Lahore High Court granted Musa protective bail till July 30.
Musa Gilani filed an application through his advocate Dr Khalid Ranjha. He argued that he was not nominated in the FIR registered with the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Rawalpindi and there was no direct evidence against him on record available with the investigators.
The ANF obtained warrants for the arrest of accused on June 20 after Dr Rashid Jumma volunteered to become an approver against him, former health secretary Khushnood Akhtar Lashari and former health minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin. On July 2, 2012, Ali Musa obtained a protective bail from the Sindh High Court for two weeks. Meanwhile, the court extended the bail of two other accused - former health minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Executive Director of Danas Pharmaceutical Company Rizwan Ahmad - till July 30.
