A powerful bomb planted in an empty plot of land near the headquarter of Sachal Wing of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh on main Super Highway in the limits of Gadap City police station was recovered here on Monday. According to police sources, a bomb containing 12kgs of high explosives, ball bearings, nuts and bolts was recovered from an empty plot near Ranger's Sachal Wing's headquarter.
Following the recovery, heavy contingent of Rangers, police and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) rushed to the spot and cleared the area after thorough examination. Later, BDS experts defused the bomb after hectic efforts of over an hour.
BDS experts said the bomb was locally-made and was connected with remote control device. Spokesman of Sindh Rangers said it was premature to say anything about the incident, as investigation was underway. An FIR, 135/12, was registered under section 4/5 Explosive Act against unidentified persons.
