In order to cope with the monsoon situation and ensure drainage of water from low-lying areas, five dewatering pumps have been purchased. This was stated by Provincial Minister for Zakat & Usher, Malik Nadeem Kamran here on Monday while presiding over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Load-shedding Management Emergency.
Member National Assembly Pervaiz Malik and high ranked officers of Police, Lesco, Irrigation, Special Branch, Wasa, Housing and other concerned departments were also present on the occasion.
Provincial Minister said that Chief Minister Punjab had issued directions to allocate funds in annual development programme for all TMAs to purchase new generators.
He directed Wasa authorities to keep the existing generators operational besides installing new generators where there was no generator available at disposal stations and tubewells so that people could not face any difficulty for getting water in case of loadshedding and drainage of water during monsoon.
Lesco authorities informed the Minister that due to rains during the last few days, the period of load-shedding has been decreased. The meeting also reviewed the situation of water in dams and canals.
