ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China vowed to expedite work on the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) especially related to industrial cooperation. Nong Rong, the new Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan called on the Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar here in Islamabad on Thursday.
The matters related to bilateral relations, projects under (CPEC) came under discussion. They agreed to work together to make the second phase of CPEC a success. The minister and the ambassador discussed the CPEC projects in detail, especially those related to industrial cooperation.
They expressed satisfaction on the Joint Working Groups (JWGs) meetings held in the recent weeks, for various sectors. Minister Asad Umar welcomed the ambassador on his new assignments and extended best wishes for his endeavours. He said that the China-Pakistan relationship extended beyond the government to government cooperation as the bond between the people of the two countries was also very strong.
The Chinese ambassador thanked the minister, and said that the Chinese side also highly valued the relationship, and it would be his endeavour to build on the work done in the last many years.
