ISLAMABAD: The tax advisors have informed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) that the 'IRIS' system is not in a condition to pick heavy load of the returns on last day of filing i.e. December 8, 2020.

According to a communication of Chairman Pakistan Tax Advisers Association and Advocate Supreme Court Javed Iqbal Qazi to Chairman FBR on Monday, it is requested to extend the date of filling of return/wealth statement up to January 31, 2021 to provide facilitation to public at large during this pandemic period.

"In these difficult times the extension in time for filing of returns be allowed and may not be made an ego issue which will provide facilitation to public at large during unprecedented pandemic conditions. It has also been reported that banks are facing difficulty in accepting the tax challans due to breakdown of FBR system," Javed Iqbal Qazi opined.
