Sindh Culture department has taken precautionary measures to protect Mohenjo Daro from any kind of damages in monsoon rains/floods. The department, which is the custodian of the world heritage site of Mohenjo Daro after the 18th Constitutional amendment, is attaching importance to all historical remains of Indus Civilisation including Mohenjo Daro.
An official of the department told Business Recorder that all vulnerable areas of Mohenjo Daro, which are feared to be affected by rains, have been stabilised.
He said that all drains were cleared to ensure smooth flow of rain water. All dewatering machines have been put on ready condition.
In case of the need of more machines, the same would be hired from private firms, he added. The mud-capping has been carried out on the top of walls to prevent percolation of rain water inside the walls, he added.
