Atiq A. Kochra, Zonal Chairman, Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (Prgmea), has proposed the name of Mujeeb Ahmed Khan for the position of Chief Executive, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). As the position of Chief Executive of TDAP is a key position vital for Pakistan trade interests, Prgmea stresses that a suitable person be appointed for this job.
The person should be well versed in international trade and should have sound knowledge of issues faced by the exporting industry, particularly the garment industry. Kochra added that Pakistan is currently at a critical juncture with regards to the trade concessions on 75 products by the EU and the GSP Plus benefit for Pakistan. He added that if Pakistan managed to get the GSP Plus status, it would give a huge boost to our exports and PRGMEA has been stressing formation of public-private taskforce to tackle this issue.
Mujeeb Khan is currently the head of WTO cell in TDAP and has vast knowledge of international trade related issues. He said Khan had worked diligently for the pending EU trade concessions package of 75 products for Pakistan and is updated on the issue of GSP Plus. Being a capable professional with relevant experience, Prgmea wishes that he be considered for this important position.
Kochra lauded the efforts of Tariq Puri, former TDAP chief executive for enhancing Pakistan's exports. He said that during Puri's tenure, there was a marked improvement in activities like trade delegations and fair participation from Pakistan. Prgmea wishes Puri all the best in his future endeavours.-PR
