ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the federal cabinet on Tuesday allowed procurement of the Covid-19 vaccine following a briefing by the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan.
The meeting of the federal cabinet presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan, after being briefed by the Special Assistant on Ministry of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination on the latest situation of coronavirus cases in the country, decided to procure the vaccine to timely protect the lives of people.
The briefing was given by Dr Sultan.
The meeting, following a briefing and discussion, allowed the Ministry of Health for procurement of vaccine.
The cabinet also approved appointment of the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Pakistan Expo Centers Private Limited.
The cabinet meeting also approved constitution of a committee to decide about the appeals under clause (3) of the Trade Organization Act, 2013.
The committee would be empowered till amendments are made in the relevant law.
The cabinet also approved appointment of the members of the Press Council of Pakistan.
The cabinet meeting also approved constitution of an inspection committee for promotion of exports related to the fishing sector.
The committee with representatives of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, and Fisheries Exporters Association would be empowered to inspect the fish processing plant established in the country.
The cabinet accepted resignation of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alternate Energy Development Board (AEDB) Rana Abdul Jabbar.
The meeting approved constitution of a committee for the appointment of a new CEO, and decided that until the appointment of new CEO, Managing Director Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) will take care of the affairs of the AEDB.
The meeting ratified the decisions of the cabinet committee on legislative cases dated December 31, 2020.
