Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 98,623 tonnes of cargo comprising 80,784 tonnes of import cargo and 17,839 tonnes of export cargo including 4,009 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 80,784 tonnes comprised of 29,159 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,738 tonnes of bulk cargo and 36,887 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 17,839 tonnes comprised of 14,206 tonnes of containerised cargo; 343 tonnes of general cargo; 995 tonnes of bulk cargo and 2,295 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. A total number of 4,009 containers comprising 2,315 containers import and 1,694 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Saturday.
The brake up of imported containers shows 637 of 20's and 835 of 40's of loaded while nil of 20's and 4 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 474 of 20's and 240 of 40's loaded containers while and 48 of 20's 346 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. Four ships with two container ships and two oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Two vessels carrying containers are currently at the berths.

A total number of two vessels viz MT Al-Salam-II and MV Aeolos are currently occupying berths to load/offload diesel oil and cement respectively during last 24 hours. As many as two ships Bow Eagle and Gas Elixir with chemicals and LPG are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A chemical carrier viz MV Bow Eagle is expected to take berth at Engro Vopak Terminal on Saturday.
