LAHORE: Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the World Bank’s Country Director for Pakistan Najy Benhassine during his meeting with the Chief Minister Usman Buzdar discussed about investing US$2 billion in five important sectors adding that the investment will be made in 5Gs sectors including girls’ education, clean and green Pakistan and last but not the least improving governance standards.
These views were expressed by the Special Assistant to CM while addressing a press conference flanked by Provincial Minister for Livestock Sardar Husnain Bahadar Dreshak at DGPR Office on Tuesday.
Dr Firdous said that the World Bank will provide assistance to overcome problems in tourism, education and health sectors. She said that elimination of corruption is only possible through e-Governance and the government is effectively pursuing the Digital Punjab vision.
The Special Assistant said that the important spell of Chief Minister has started and he has won two wickets of PML-N in two days and the process will continue. She said that day is not far when PTI will clean bowled the whole team of opposition and they will be sent back to pavilion.
Dr Firdous said that the PTI will win the Senate election with a big margin adding that the Prime Minister Imran Khan does not want to repeat the past practice of floor-crossing in Senate election and this is the reason that use of ‘show of hand’ has been demanded by him. She said that the PML-N politics is filled with the practice of corruption and the corrupt are facing the consequences of their past misdeeds. She said that Shehbaz Sharif is in jail not for patriotism but for corruption.
Responding to a question, the Special Assistant said that if any disgruntled member of other party share any public woe with the Chief Minister then it is responsibility of the CM to listen to him. “We may have political differences but there is no difference of opinion on our commitment towards public welfare agendas,” she added.
Criticizing Modi on the Republic Day of India, the SACM said that although India claims to be the world’s largest democracy but its true face has been exposed because of Indian army atrocities on innocent Kashmiris and human rights violation in the Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir. “We strongly condemn the human rights violation and ill-treatment of Muslims, Sikhs and other minorities in India,” she added. She said that observance of black day by the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the Republic Day of India proves that their hearts beat with the Pakistani people.
