Commissioner Lahore Division Jawad Rafique Malik has said that the Rs four billion Ramazan package is a sacred trust of the masses and hence the government is paying full attention to the provision of quality essential items to the consumers at the subsidised rates and it was being ensured that edible items are easily available to the people in Ramazan Bazaars.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting regarding Sastay Ramazan Bazaars here on Tuesday, disclosed an official. He also said Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Member National Assembly Hamza Shahbaz Sharif and District Coordination Officer Lahore are paying regular visits to Ramazan Bazaars while and Assembly Members have also been asked to ensure provision of essential items to the citizens with the help of the administration in their respective areas.
According to him, the Assembly members and administration should take action against the elements involved in artificial price-hike and profiteering. Raids are being conducted at cold storages due to which prices of essential items in open market and Sastay Ramzan Bazaars have reduced. Supply of edible items, especially vegetables and fruits, is being improved in Ramazan Bazaar so that the masses could be facilitated through creating a balance between supply and demand. The government is taking steps at every level to ensure availability of quality daily use items to the consumers at cheaper rates and to address people's complaints in Ramazan Bazaars. The Commissioner said comfortable seating arrangements for senior citizens have also been made in Ramazan bazaars.
