Chief of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that the country's politicians are giving 'open invitation' to army to take over. Talking to reporters in Lahore here on Tuesday, the AML leader said that generals and judges were trying their level best to allow the continuation of democratic order in the country.
He said the AML was holding public meetings in Rawalpindi on August 13 and on September 6 in Lahore wherein the AML would announce electoral alliance with other political parties. The AML leader further said that efforts were being made to embarrass the Supreme Court just to protect the wealth of President Asif Ali Zardari lying abroad.
He further said that sons of corrupt politicians were also active in corrupt practices. "The country would be bankrupt, if such people are not held accountable," he added. He expressed serious concerns over the country's state of affairs and called for taking steps in right direction to steer the country out of the prevailing crises.
