ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Thursday endorsed a motion of Federal Government, in principle, to increase tariffs of power Distribution Companies (Discos) by Rs 1.95 per unit to be applicable across the board.
The public hearing was presided over by Vice Chairman, Saif Ullah Chattha, and attended by Member Sindh, Rafique Ahmad Shaikh, Member, Balochistan, Rehmatullah Baloch and Member KP, Engineer Bahadar Shah.
The Federal Government, which has already approved a Rs 1.95 per unit increase in Discos' tariff, had submitted a motion to NEPRA as a formality.
Nepra determined tariffs of seven Discos for the year 2018-19 and 2019-20, separately under Single Year Tariff (SYT) regime, annual adjustments and three Discos for the year 2019-20 under Multi Year (MYT) regime.
According to Nepra, KE's universal tariff will be decided separately in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedure.
