Punjab Forum seeks imposition of governor's rule on Balochistan

27 Jul, 2012

The Punjab Forum on Thursday said the government should take seriously the Supreme Court observation regarding complete constitutional breakdown in Balochistan and demanded imposition of Governor's rule till normalisation of the situation. The civilian government has failed to control crimes like target, sectarian and ethnic killings, extortion and kidnapping for ransom and other heinous crimes in the country's biggest province. Baig Raj, President, Punjab Forum said on Thursday.
"Though FC can maintain law and order in the province to some extent but its presence is no substitute to a military operation against terrorists backed by powerful nations and enemies of Pakistan. He said that businesses, schools, government offices and even courts in Balochistan are working due to protection provided by the FC. Balochistan is still part of Pakistan due to the sacrifices offered by the FC and ISI, he added.
Baig Raj said it appears that everyone is looking at the Balochistan situation from the angle preferred by the anti-state elements. Majority of state institutions are trying best to please terrorists and discourage elements defending the motherland. This has encouraged BLA and other terrorists who are now targeting Pashtoons and the diplomats of friendly countries. This is the time when Army should leave barracks, he observed.
