Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 122,460 tonnes of cargo comprising 85,107 tonnes of import cargo and 37,353 tonnes of export cargo including 4,924 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 85,107 tonnes comprised of 31,499 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,431 tonnes of general cargo; 27,177 tonnes of bulk cargo: 5,982 tonnes of DAP; 14,000 tonnes of coal; 7,195 tonnes of rock phosphate and 25,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 37,353 tonnes comprised of 27,173 tonnes of containerised cargo; 321 tonnes of general cargo; 2,278 tonnes of bulk cargo: 278 tonnes of cement; 2,000 tonnes of talcum powder and 7,581 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. A total number of 4,924 containers comprising 2,406 containers import and 2,518 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The brake up of imported containers shows 753 of 20's and 756 of 40's of loaded while 101 of 20's and 20 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 680 of 20's and 432 of 40's loaded containers while and 44 of 20's 265 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Six ships namely Ital Moderna, APL Brisbane, Bow Flower, Chemroad Sea, Sea Merchant and Tabernacle Prince with two container ship, two oil tankers and two bulk cargo ships respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Eight vessels viz Jolly, Rio Bravo, MT Karachi, Stolt Helluland, Champion Star, Mu Dan Song, Arundel Castle and Sea Wave carrying two container ships, three oil tankers, two general cargo ships and one bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely TS Korea, Rio Bravo and MT Karachi with two container ships and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while two ships namely Kota Akbar and Jolly with two container ships are expected to sail on Saturday. Five vessels viz YM North, APL Chicago, OEL Trust, Kota Akbar and DL Ace with four container ships and one ethanol ship respectively due to arrive on Friday, while three vessels viz Wan Hai-601, Karsiyaka and Marcomanche carrying one container ship, one steel coil carrier and one general cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

The total export cargo includes 13,713 tonnes of containerised cargo. Four ships namely CV CMA CGM Chapan, CV City of Beijing, MV Stanlay Park and MT Chemroad Quest carrying containers, chemicals and edible oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely CV CMA CGM Eiffel and MT Al-Soor-II with containers and diesel oil are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz CV CMA CGM Chapan, CV City of Beijing, CV CMA CGM Eiffel, MV Liberty Glory, MV Stanlay Park, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Chemroad Quest and MT Atlanta are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, chemicals, diesel oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships Marie Delmas, MT Galaxy, STX Forte, Theresa Bitung, Conti Sphir, Chang Ani-7 and New Horizon with containers, edible oil, chemicals, canola seeds and furnace oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of three vessels viz CV Marie Delmas, MT Chang Ani-7 and MT STX Forte carrying containers, chemicals and edible oil are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.
