Two women among 10 gunned down in Karachi

At least 10 persons including two women were killed in different violent incidents in the city here on Sunday, police and rescue sources said. In the first incident, a man was killed by unknown assailants in Khairabad area in the limits of Manghopir police station. The deceased was identified as Hayat Khan, 36, son Gulam Khan,
Police said unidentified armed men intercepted Hayat Khan and opened indiscriminate firing when he was going to offer Fajar prayer. The deceased was a scrap dealer and resident of the same area. The body was shifted to a local hospital for medico legal formalities.
A tortured body of a youth was recovered from furniture market in the limits of Arambagh police station. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained till filing of this report. The body was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem and later shifted to Edhi morgue.
In a separate incident, a 30-year woman, Hasina, was shot dead at her home in Khuda Ki Basti, Surjani Town. Her husband and two other people were injured in the incident. Police suspected that murder was result of offering resistance to robbery bid.
In yet another incident, a man was gunned down by unknown attackers near New Sabzi Mandi in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station.
The deceased was identified as Shamil, 35. Police said that deceased, resident of Chinnar Goth, was on his way to somewhere when unknown gunmen riding motorcycles sprayed him with bullets. As a result he died on the spot.
The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. In addition, a man was killed in a firing incident in Malir area in the limits of Malir City police station.
Police said that deceased was identified as Muzamil Hussain, son of Majid, who used to run tailor shop. Police said that unknown men came to his shop for getting their cloths stitched but on refusal they killed the tailor by opening fire and fled. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
Mangopir police recovered a 12-day old body of a young man from a house in Khairabad, Manghpir area. He was identified as Parvaiz Ashraf, son Mohammad Asharaf.
Police said that deceased lived at his house alone. A fake card of Pakistan Qaumi Razakar (PQR) police was recovered from his pocket. The body was shifted to a local hospital for autopsy.
Furthermore, three persons including a woman of a family were shot dead in Awami Colony, Korangi No. 4. According to details, four to five armed men barged into the house of Shams Qamar before Iftar time and opened indiscriminate fire on his family resulting the death of Shams Qamar, 56, his wife Rasheeda Begum, 40, and Zeeshan Farid, 24.
Duty Officer at Awami Colony Police Station said the family was involved in drug pushing. He further said that the motive behind the killing seemed to be dispute over money. Meanwhile, Preedy Police during a raid at Bohri Bazaar arrested 15 extortionists and gamblers. According to police, nine out of 15 arrested accused are members of different extortionists group.
