Caretaker setup

30 Jul, 2012

As the term of office of the current PPP-led government is coming to an end, make-up of a mandatory caretaker setup, prior to holding of the next elections, is raking the minds of political analysts, as evident from this being a hot subject of current media debate.
Both Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif, driven by respective individual vested interest, would like to have a mutually acceptable form of caretaker government. Despite rhetorical and acrimonious statements against each other, both the PPP and PML-N are on the same page with regards to setting-up of a negotiated caretaker setup which will be friendly to both the adversaries and would desist from opening up of cases of corruption, money laundering and misrule against them. Both the PPP and PML-N also have the support and backing of the legislative sundry political parties, in the form of lurking packs of dingo, under respective garbs, to scavenge and devour the leftover spoils.
It is generally believed that both the PPP and PML-N, have the works or respective outline of a caretaker setup in the pipeline and would work hard together to put it in place to ensure that no political vacuum is created. Historically, whenever there was a political vacuum in the country, the army had moved in to fill the vacuum and had setup its own caretaker government. This situation when the GHQ had to move in to install a caretaker government of its own, in the opinion of common citizens, is a matter of the past.
