The unabated incidents of targeted killings continued in the city as four more persons including two Rangers' personnel and an excise officer were killed in separate incidents in various parts of the metropolis here on Tuesday. According to police and rescue sources, an officer of Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department was gunned down at Guru Mandir Chowrangi in the limits of Jamshed Quarters police station.
The victim, who was identified as Mohammad Amin Baloch, 40, son of Abdul Karim, was residing at Gulshan-e-Iqbal. SHO Khushnood Javed said the deceased was targeted when he was returning from Masjid after performing Magrib prayers. The body was moved to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for autopsy and later handed over to his family. He might have been murdered over personal ground. No case was registered till filing of this report.
An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was shot dead at Bohra Pir area in the limits of Eidgah police station. The victim namely Noor Mohammad alias Bengali, 35, son of Tayyab was shifted to CHK where he succumbed to his injuries.
DSP Zahid Hussain said that he was an active worker of MQM unit-29 and added that the motive behind his murder was yet to be ascertained. No case was registered till filing of this report. Similarly, the wave of unabated violence claimed the lives of two Rangers personnel in Orangi Town. Police sources said that two unknown armed men targeted Inspector Bahar and Sub-Inspector Abdullah when they were sitting in a teashop located near Bacha Khan Chowk at Banaras in the limits of Pirabad police station.
SHO Ashfaq Baloch said these officers were working in intelligence wing of Sindh Rangers and at the time of incident, both victims were sitting at a teashop. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities. When contacted, no official from Sindh Rangers was unavailable for comments. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
