Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik on Wednesday ordered constitution of a committee to examine data protection arrangements of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) along with passports. Rehman Malik issued these directives while presiding over a meeting with Federal Secretary Interior, Additional Secretary Interior, Nadra Chairman, Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), DG immigration and Passports, Deputy Chairman Nadra and other officials of FIA and Ministry of Interior, an official said.
He said they decided to examine the protection of Nadra data, protection of passports data and the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS) at Islamabad Airport. The Minister issued directives to secretary interior to constitute a committee to examine Nadra and passport data along with IBMS, he said.
He said that FIA DG would head the committee and Shahid Nadeem Baloch, Director Cyber Crimes FIA, Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, DG Nadra, Rao Imran, Director Database, Passports and representatives of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Intelligence Bureau to examine data protection arrangements for protection of Nadra and Passports data.
