Federal Minister for Water and Power, Ahmed Mukhtar, asked the Energy Management Committee (EMC) to streamline the load management, eliminate unscheduled loadshedding and ensure equitable loadshedding in the country.
He made these directions while presiding over a meeting of newly-constituted Energy Management Committee (EMC) here today. Secretary Water and Power, Zafar M. Mehmood, Salahuddin Rafai, Convenor of EMC and Ijaz R. Qureshi Member of EMC, Javed Parvez, CEO, IESCO (Member) and Malik Ejaz (Member) participated.
The Minister asked them to ensure proper level of load management and full compliance at the DISCO level and for co-ordination between DISCO and NPCC. The Minister said that two officers from every DISCO will be located in the NPCC and will ensure allocated power drawls as per their share of their companies, lifting of forced loadshedding and removal of transmission and distribution constraints. The committee was also asked to monitor the generation and there should be no shutdown of plants due to minor faults and no long hour power interruption due to system constraints. The Minister said that smooth and uninterrupted power supply is the priority of the Government. He said that the government is utilising all the resources to enhance the power generation. He also directed that there should be no loadshedding during Sehar and Iftar and efforts should be made to provide maximum relief to the consumers in the Holy Month of Ramazan. The meeting also discussed various measures of energy conservation, reduce line losses, and use of energy efficient electric appliances for consumers.-PR
