Shortfall reaches 4012 megawatts mark

Power shortfall has reached to 4012 MW, leaving major cities including Lahore to the mercy of load shedding after every alternate hour while rural areas are the worst hit with 20 hours a day load shedding in general. According to the Energy Management Cell, demand for power has heightened to 17933 MW against a supply of 13921 MW.
Meanwhile, protests against power load shedding continued despite an intervention from the President Asif Ali Zardari. They protestors said there was no reduction in load shedding during Sehar and Iftar despite presidential intervention. According to them, they have lost hope in the government so far as elimination of load shedding is concerned.
