SC directs Daniyal Aziz to obtain record of his contemptuous statements

The Supreme Court (SC) has adjourned the contempt case hearing till March 6 against Privatization Minister Daniyal Aziz while directing his counsel to obtain original record of contemptuous statements made by Aziz.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Azmat Saeed directed Aziz's counsel Ali Raza to provide them with the video of the speech in which he was allegedly misquoted, local media reported. To this Aziz said that he had requested the Press Information Department to provide him with the clips.

Through his counsel, Aziz had requested the SC on Thursday to provide original record of charges against him in which Aziz has given controversial speeches and statements.

SC issues show-cause notice to Daniyal   

In the application Raza  had requested the court to provide him with the record of the news article as well as the two video clips which were aired on two private channel last year, local media reported. Raza stated that the records were necessary to prepare a response to the show cause notice issued by the SC.

On February 19, the SC had issued a show cause notice in which three specific news items were recorded to Aziz in contempt of court case. The court had directed his counsel to submit a reply by Friday (today).
