Inspector General Sindh Police, Fayyaz Leghari appointed DIG CIA as focal person for regular contacts with leaders of chambers, industrial zones and trade associations and ensuring police action on the complaints against kidnapping for ransom and extortion.
Addressing the members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) here on Thursday, he said that police are in action under a planned strategy against criminals and to maintain law and order in the city.
He pointed out that Station House Officers (SHOs) will be posted for a prescribed tenure at one police station to further improve their performances. The efficient SHOs will complete their tenure while incompetent will be black listed for further posting as SHOs, he added. Chairman, Sindh Board of Investment, Zubair Motiwala, and Siraj Kassem Teli President KCCI Mian Abrar Ahmed were present on the occasion. IG Sindh said that both police and businessmen have to face all these challenges together to improve law-and-order situation.
He asked the DIGs of three zones to police officials should be designated for industrial and commercial areas and these officers and jawans should not be posted anywhere else. He also issued directives for patrolling of police on motorcycles in industrial and commercial areas.
IG Sindh also issued order for constituting a co-ordination committee consisting of KCCI members under SSP South for monitoring law-and-order situation in their respective areas. Similarly, representatives of trade associations and district police will constitute similar committees at district level. Earlier, KCCI President in his welcome address highlighted the incidents of money extortion and threat to trading community in market areas.
