The European Union on Monday said it would donate 2 million euros (2.5 million dollars) in aid for the victims of monsoon floods in the north-eastern Indian state of Assam. Since they started in mid-June, the floods have killed over 100 people and displaced several hundred thousand.
EU funds will provide relief for about 80,000 people "and will especially target the most vulnerable, such as low caste groups and tribal and religious minorities," the commission said.
