ISLAMABAD: Cash, gold ornaments, vehicles and other valuables worth Rs21.6 million were stolen or snatched by armed gangs from various parts of the capital city during the last week.
According to data gathered by Business Recorder, armed robbers struck at over 22 different places and looted or stole cash as well as other valuables worth Rs12.97 million.
Armed gangs snatched cash and valuables worth Rs 4,212,000 in 10 separate incidents in the city at gunpoint in the same period. During the period under review, motor vehicle thieves stole six cars worth Rs 2,910,000 and lifted 20 motor bikes worth Rs 1,475,000 from various localities of the city.
In the last week, over 12 people mostly women were kidnapped from various areas and four people including two policemen were murdered.
In the same period, the most active areas for the criminal gangs were within the limits of Golra, Industrial Area, Ramna, Margalla, Lohi Bher, Bhara Kahu, Sihala, Koral, and Kohsar police stations.
During the last week, four people were kidnapped from the limits of Golra police station and armed robbers struck at five places in the same area. Sanan Ahmed informed Golra police station that accused Khalid and others stole a pistol, three mobile phones, and Rs 150,000 from his house.
Meanwhile, accused Abdul Qadir along with two others stormed into the house of Baber and looted gold ornament, cash and Rs 400,000 at gunpoint at Sector E-11/2 in the limits of Golra police station. Unidentified persons snatched Rs 40,000 at gunpoint from Usman Haider.
