KARACHI: A delegation of senior print and electronic media persons from Karachi on Monday met the President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi at Sindh Governor’s House here to discuss the new electronic voting system. Speaking on the occasion, President Dr Arif Alvi said the electronic voting machine (EVM) is the need of hour and it will make electoral system more transparent.
He further said that since the machine is not connected to WIFI, there will be no dangers of hacking. Besides, this machine would be a step forward in electoral system, the President said, adding that in addition, the machine will give quick results of voting. President Alvi maintained that the government should take all stakeholders including opposition and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on board in relation to finalization of electronic voting process.
The delegation included Wamiq A. Zuberi, Zafar Abbas, Dr Jabbar Khattak Nusrat Mirza, Manzar Naqvi, Maqsood Yusufi, Kazi Asad Abid, Riffat Saeed, S M Shakil, Qazi Hassan, Faisal Hussain and Imtiaz Faran.
