Seven-year-old boy among three killed in Karachi

At least three persons, including a seven-year-old boy, were killed on Wednesday while six others were injured in various incidents of violence in various parts of the Sindh metropolis. According to police and rescue sources, two bodies bearing torture marks were found in the Pak Colony area.
The bodies, police said, were found from opposite ends of the Dhobi Ghat Bridge. The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy. Later, the deceased were identified as Shoaib, 28, son of Abdul Majeed Baloch and Shahid, 27, son of Raheem Bux. Police said Shoaib, who was a tailor, had been kidnapped by Lyari gangsters from the Kalakot area.
Similarly, Shahid had also been kidnapped by the same culprits, police maintained. Police said both victims had been brutally tortured before being killed on suspicion of being informers. Two cases were registered against unknown culprits. A man named Naqeel, 65, son of Lasbar Khan, was killed while his son, Akbar Khan, 28, and another man named Abdul Qadir, 36, son of Wali Gul, were injured when two groups clashed over a petty issue in the Kunwari Colony in the limits of Pirabad police station.
Police said the armed clash was triggered by a quarrel between children of two different ethnic groups. The body of the deceased and the injured persons were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). No case was registered till the filing of this report.
The body of a seven-year-old boy was found with his throat slit in the Baldia Town area in the jurisdiction of Saeedabad police station. The boy, who was later identified as Kabir Baloch, son of Raheem Baloch, had been abducted while he was playing outside his home. The body was moved to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for post-mortem examination. According to doctors who examined the body, the boy had been raped before being murdered.
An undientified man was shot dead near the Technical College in Bhains Colony in the limits of Shah Latif police station. Police said that the deceased appeared to be in his mid-twenties. Police officials said that the deceased had probably been kidnapped before being shot dead. The body was shifted to JPMC for autopsy before being moved to the Edhi morgue. An activist of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) namely Javed alias Behari alias Batla, 34, son of Tasleem and Kamran son of Shaukat were injured in firing when unidentified armed motorcycle riders fired upon them after they warned workers of a political party not to distribute Fitrah slips in the Bangla Bazar area of Orangi Town.
A 22-year-old man named Jahangir Khan, son of Azeem, was injured in an armed ambush in the North Nazimabad area. The deceased, who sustained three bullets, was admitted in ASH in critical condition.
Three other persons, including Majid Baloch, Usman Baloch and Ibrahim Katiawari, were injured when unknown armed motorcycle riders opened indiscriminate firing near Akbar Road Market in the jurisdiction of Preddy police station. The injured persons were shifted to CHK for treatment. Police said the victims had tried to resist a robbery bid. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
