Tajir Qaumi Ittehad (TQI) Chairman Tariq Mehmood Malik strongly criticised the recent increase in petroleum products' prices and unscheduled Loadshedding of electricity and gas during Ramazan, saying that the crises had added to the poor's miseries. The TQI office-bearers also threatened that if the government remained failed to withdraw the recent increase in the petroleum products' prices and decrease Loadshedding durations, the public would take to the streets and oust the rulers from the power.
They said that the government had committed an act of cruelty by increasing prices in the holy month. They termed the increase tantamount to an atom bomb dropped on the Pakistani public. The national economy was on the brink of destruction because of gas and power crises and political instability, they said and added that the people were not being provided with relief because of the flawed policies. They said that lawlessness, dearness, Loadshedding and other crises had snatched the peace of mind from the people and there is a little hope to celebrate Eidul Fitr amidst the present situation. They observed that the people had fed up with upto 18 hours Loadshedding a day and everyday increase in goods' prices, especially in petroleum products'. The country was heading towards civil war, they feared.
